Malaga

Driving along the Mediterranean on a bright sunny day leaves me awestruck. Rolling fields of hay, grazing cattle and the numerous tunnels we went through on our way to Malaga seems like a scene out of a movie.

We arrive at our caravan park outside of the city, take a quick lunch and walk a block to the train station.

Stay on until the last stop

And that’s what we did because the train was packed and we didn’t understand a word they said.

Off at the city’s center we looked around to figure out where to go to enter the fortress known as Alcazaba. I chose to follow the crowd and I was right.

Moorish built in 1300

Romans took it over in the 1700s but my husband would tell you my world history is lacking. old coliseum surrounded by a moat in the front and then you start walking….

Gorgeous tropical plantings

I loved it for the stone architecture but admired it for the use of stones and plantings.

Jane, small doorways
Almond tree in spring flower
Wisteria portico around fountains

The elaborate fountains fed by water dripping from the top of the fortress down small aqueducts.

Norwegian’s cruise ship

Looking down from the fortress to the cruise dock below. Strange dichotomy standing on the old and looking at the new.

Multicolored housing

Elaborate windows with balconies adorn the city center. Time for dinner and wine.

Selfies have improved
The food

Coastal Spanish cuisine, where to start.

Curried mussels

Sardines with chimichuri sauce

Garlic prawns

Pork stuffed dumplings

And a bottle of dry white wine

All for 50 euro

Plans for today will begin after the torrential rains stop around noon.
